Cancer is the fastest growing disease in the modern world
The number of world cancer cases will rise by nearly 75% in 2030 according to a recently published study in the British medical journal, The Lancet. [1]
Cancer is likely to be the “major cause of morbidity and mortality in the coming decades in every region of the world.” 90% of the increase in cases of cancer will be in developing countries.
Researchers under Freddie Bray of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France, found that there were 12.7 million new cases of cancer in 2008 and that this figure will rise to 22.2 million by 2030.
Among the many reasons for the dramatic rise in cancer are demographic and lifestyle factors, smoking, depleted nutrients in our food, drug use, alcohol, chemicals, and air pollution.

Chemotherapy and radiation
Numerous studies have shown that black seed and its active principle thymoquinone can protect the body against the deleterious effects of chemotherapy and radiation whilst enhance their potency.

Tumor therapy
In 1997 at the Cancer Research Laboratory of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA, it was proven that the black seed oil had enormous success in tumor therapy without the negative side effects of common chemo-therapy.
They found that it increased the growth rate of bone marrow cells by a staggering 250% and it inhibited tumor growth by 50%. It stimulated immune cells and raised the interferon production which protects cells from the cell destroying the effect of viruses.
They confirmed the strongly anti-bacterial and anti-mycotic effects and that it has an effect on lowering the blood sugar level which is essential for the treatment of diabetes.
They concluded that a healthy immune system will detect and destroy cancer cells before cancer endangers the patient.

A wide range of cancers
Nigella sativa has been studied against a variety of different cancers and found to be “effective against cancer in the blood system, lung, kidney, liver, prostate, breast, cervix, skin with much safety.”[2]
In a review article published in 2016 in the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, researchers examined the experimental evidence for black seed as an anti-cancer agent. In the abstract of Recent advances on the anti-cancer properties of Nigella sativa, a widely used food additive, the authors state that “experimental findings reported in the last two decades strongly suggest that N. sativa fractions could serve, alone or in combination with known chemotherapeutic drugs, as effective agents to control tumor initiation, growth, and metastasis, and hence, treatment of a wide range of cancers.”
This review and other research clearly demonstrate how black seed has a multidimensional impact on diseases like cancer. As cancer is a multifactorial disease, the black seed may represent the perfect antidote. “The anti-cancer properties of N. sativa have been mainly attributed to its ability to exert potent anti-proliferative, pro-apoptotic, anti-oxidant, anti-mutagenic, and anti-metastatic roles. The protective effects of N. sativa against tumor initiation and progression have also been attributed, at least in part, to their ability to suppress inflammation and exert immune-boosting effects.” [3]
